interesting juxtaposition

i hope it was worth it; i hope the 80 million dollars you spent on 3′ by 4′ by 1/100th of an inch of pigmented oil was worth it, while this is going on in the world; while families are giving their children away because they don’t have 3 dollars a month. i really hope it’s worth at it this month’s Big Dick Club for the Tiny Dicked meeting, where everyone with a .25 inch dick whips out the receipt for their monets and chagalls and van goghs and vicously hopes everyone forgets about the .25-inch dick part. you could become an international superhero, you could save a generation from the abyss, and… you bought a painting. not to support the artist, obviously, or to support art, as there are many working, living artists who could use a little cheddar. no, you did it to support your sub-.25-inch dick. congratulations. i hope it was worth it.

I do not appreciate your ATTACKING ME with helpful suggestions!

skimmed from mefi. pretty darn funny, in a sad, sad kind of way.

available for all your crypt exploring and ancient artifact recovering needs.

from a few days ago, but: gabe’s bit with the character sheets at the end of the news post: hi-sterical.

apparently having a job interferes with my ability to type in a recreational fashion. luckily i decided to take today off to drink. once my plan comes to full fruition, the bounty reaped will be of a most discernable variety.

i’m fairly certain i heard someone on the justice league cartoon use the word “brobdingnagian.”

i had no idea it was even possible to achieve this level of awesomeness

maybe the finest bit of film-makery in the history of the makification of filmage. it might be the best thing to watch in the history of eyes. it is so perfect i think it broke something inside of me, something deep and crucial.

snikt science is the best science

i’m the best there is at what i do, but what i do best isn’t very nice. because, apparently, what i do best is scatter wolverine caca laden with mysterious dna around the tahoe basin.

still: science! within my lifetime, the liklihood that someone would have been able to say “this animal clearly came from one of the groups 6 states and/or a country away and is not from one of the historical state populations” has gone from “nil” to 100%. that’s pretty cool.

boy, i feel like ass.

i’m not sure what i did to piss crom off - maybe it’s the muttering “crom” all the time thing - but the last two weeks have been pretty obnoxious. on the plus side, i’m working again, which is nice. although i’ve got this stupid javascript/jsp issue that i really should have done by tomorrow, except a) everyone who lives here that isn’t feline has picked up some kind of cold/flu thing in the last week or so, and b) it’s currently my turn at the moment. temperature at 100.5 last time i checked, so that’s not too bad. not doing much for the productivity though. plus i’m flying solo for the next couple days, starting tonight. so it looks like we’re in for a fun couple of days at least here. and taking days off the first couple of weeks on the job seems iffy. i remembered yesrerday i haven’t even told them yet about taking that week in may off.

and you know, the whole appeal of crom is that the cranky son of a bitch doesn’t listen to a damn thing anyone says anyway. so what the fuck?

what the situation calls for is, thus, fairly obvious: i need to watch a hitchcock movie. and i haven’t seen “rope” in a long time. and the bad guy is kind of the anti-jimmy stewart, like his evil twin or something, which i think adds something to an already fine feature (see: hitchcock). and, serendipitously enough (i hope that’s a word. it should be, anyway) i have on my dvr one “rope” directed by alfred hitchcock.

see what happens? i get a job and everything goes right to hell. on the other hand, if i could get lottery tickets delivered while watching “rope,” i’m pretty sure that would solve all of my problems.

skree-gah!

okay, this is just awesome. it was linked from mefi a few days ago; i started watching it yesterday, and just spent 20 minutes watching two eagles making repairs to their hugaceous nest in a snowstorm on the coast of maine.

you know, internet, you’re pretty bitchin’. yes you are!

homeowner? don’t you mean… NAZI?!?!?!

this is pretty irritating right here. it never ceases to amaze me that people who really should know better insist on turning the city’s unwillingness to really commit to affordable housing (while letting developers throw up new skyscraper lofts left right and center, of course) into some absurd us vs them dynamic, with the “them” being those rotten greedy bastards who want to actually own a home, or at least a piece of one, in one of the best places in the world to live, and maybe have the kind of security for their family that the tenant advocates demand for the renters they claim to represent. i know! we’ll outlaw condos and tics altogether! that will fix it! then no one will ever be evicted again! plus you have to love the “i know the *real* numbers” argument there. proof? evidence? who needs that (especially when what there is completely contradicts my argument) when i have an opinion! don quixote, call for you on line two…

it’s a real problem, and the real solution is for the city to make real affordable housing. sure some developers won’t get quite as rich as they would otherwise, but that seems preferable to punishing the few people who are able to scrape enough together to try to put down roots in a city they love, and not have to live with the uncertainty of some lunatic landlord or management company ready to yank the rug out first chance they get.

quote of the day

“The great thing about Orbs is that a lot of people believe with all their might that when they die there’s a possibility their spirits turn into flash photography artifacts.”

(can you tell i’m bored? that’s not even from today, technically. although “today” is kind of a meaningless construct anyway. but that’s not as interesting as punching dave sim in the mouth would be, so i’ll leave it at that.)

i think i’m being stupid about firefox tab usage, or else something else is making my fingers hurt.
